How This Calculator Works

This calculator uses nonlinear regression to solve the sound pressure level equation: $ SPL = 20 \\log_{10} \\left( \\frac{P_{source} + K \\cdot r}{P_{ref}} \\right) $ where $P_{source}$ is the source pressure, $r$ is distance, $K$ is the environment factor, and $P_{ref}$ is the reference pressure (20 μPa). The nonlinear regression iteratively converges to the solution with 100 iterations.
